Orson Welles Illustration

Orson Welles was a visionary creative mind who is best known for Citizen Kane, considered the greatest film of all time by many. He changed the perception of how a director was seen in the studio system, and as a first time filmmaker was able to gain full creative control over his work. After Citizen Kane, Welles faced difficulties trying to get through the Hollywood system funded and without interference. Most of his post-Kane films were deluded by studio tinkering, including The Magnificent Ambersons and Touch Of Evil. He would continue to work as a filmmaker, actor, voice and thinker for the decades to follow, developing ideas and pursuing his vision to varying degrees of public recognition. Considered one of the greatest directors, Welles innovative body of work is a consistent source of discussion and inspiration that has resonated with me throughout the years.
